Reading comments has become a part of consuming social content—so much so that sometimes the conversation is the entertainment.
And people always want to be in on the joke, even if it’s not in English.
So Duolingo started using the comment section to poke fun at people who use the “see translation” function
to read comments that aren’t in their native language instead of just using Duolingo to learn the language.
Step 1:
Users scroll through content that isn’t in their native language but looks entertaining.
Step 2:
They run straight to the comments to see if they can get more context or entertainment and see a comment from Duolingo in that language.
Step 3:
When they hit see translation, they’re hit with Duolingo flaming them for it.
